BEARS Australia 2023

Very cool Red - but not cool at all is missing so many races. I'm surprised Matt won't be cleared for Sydney - how long does a collarbone take to knit? He needed Dr Costa!

Oh what fun it is making new shit, eh. How much longer does your latest extended output shaft need to be for the 180 than Mk1 for the 160? Did that require machining a completely new cover? And what's the total mm you've moved the chainline outward from a std gearbox?

Was the axle spacing of the previous swingarm too narrow to run your cush drive far enough out?

Crazy talk, I love it. I think Rob jacked his engine up a bit for added ground clearance but that was a standard frame, not Reds bespoke race frame. Just so cool, even faster Laverdas.

I moved my motor 3mm to the right and run a 520. Had to flatten the inside edges of the frame around the pillion triangle to prevent chain rub. Not a lot of room to play with with a std frame.

Great news Red that you are moving in a positive way. I assume 180 section rear is the aim? At least you are not controlled too much by rules and regulations that allow a certain amount of freedom in development. Of course you'll be aware that the next stage will be tweaking to produce more power! Credit to you.
Howe did you overcome the cam chain tensioner blade breaking?
All the best , Andy

well Matt's collar bone was attended to initially in Darwin Hospital so who knows how long it will take to mend, plus it moved in the healing process

distance required sort of works itself out, we had a 160 rear, now going for 180 rear, means 10mm each side
though we added a couple of more mm to allow for wets which are always wider then slicks

and yes, the outer cover is a totally different design and CNC program

you have so many questions

had to make new swingarms as the chain run on the 160 rear tyre version was already fouling the under slung swingarm bracing
plus I was never a fan of the standard Laverda axle adjustment set up so we are changing that as well

Game on...
Matt received medical clearance to race this weekend.
Rd 7 Broadford VIC
And on Monday I helped Red load the van with the girls and gear.
The Redax support team are also heading south with Paul and Bruce starting on their pub crawl.
Have fun blokes. May the weather be kind, the racing injury-free and the beer chilly.

NSW boys heading down on there way to Tassie - Vic Lav club in attendance - I'll be riding up on Sunday. Can't wait to hear the mule at full cry again! Safe riding travellers and racers alike.

And I'm about to head off to Collie Motoplex for 2 days of fanging the Motodd around the circuit
Busy week for Oz Laverdas
Goos stuff, Rob. Keep the rubber side down and enjoy.

And Phillip Island track day ('Fun Day') with the DOCV is now confirmed for Monday 4th December - there was a poss of track resurfacing causing cancellation - that will now start the day after we're there. Hooksey and Maurice also on the card. Lav action among the Ducati hordes!

I'll be hoping to keep the rubber side down on the SFQ as well.

Here at Broadford good run down with a bunch of Orange bikes. Now here at trackside and 🤔 could the “coach” be making a comeback fresh rubber going on the rear and a valuable lesson for all re setting the alignment up spot on.
Earlier on he ran a sag setting course 😂
Racing starts this Arvo, temp is dropping let’s see how it goes
Good roll up of Vico’s here 👍👍IMG_3378.jpegIMG_3381.jpegIMG_3382.jpegIMG_3373.jpegIMG_3370.jpegIMG_3365.jpegIMG_3367.jpeg

Race 2 was a back to back after the F1 race remember Matt’s still not fully recovered so not fully bike fit
Suffering a lot under brakes and missing a gear off the line didn’t help.
Anyway this morning there were a few races in between so he managed to recover also this he may still have had some adrenaline flowing as the F1 race was a real cracker one of the best for ages and a real close finish with a bike length between 1st and 3rd with the BM coming out on top over the two V4 Ducati’s

So race three and a better start meant he was second for a bit then the quicker F3 bikes started pulling away
The race for F4 was then between between the Lav and the Triumph after a missed gear by Matt the Triumph got past but only for less than half a lap then Matt stayed in front to cone home 3rd overall 1st on class 👍
