BEARS Australia 2025

I do like that Magni.

Hey Hooksie, your a lucky bugger. I only got to hear it start several times. Did have the privilege to ride Paul's 3C to Belligen though.

Hey Paul, Noom should be back by the time you guys arrive in the west so normal service resumed.

Good luck for Team Redax

Great weekend
Won all four races Last 3 outright
Last race by over 12 seconds
New lap record to boot

Well done to all the Redax crew on an outstanding result. All that effort is paying off now😊👍
Tom
what a massive change these Slipper clutches have made, bring the Girls home from a weekend of racing now with the expectation that I will find no engine damage at all
total change from previous years where I expected to do at least one engine rebuild after every race meeting

is quite boring, might have to start chasing more power now

Is that an unexpected side benefit from what I understood was a performance, or faster lap time, gain? Quite a lot of engine damage happens due to over-revving on down shifts, I know of blown motors among the classic mob here.
Maybe my SF survived all the seasons because I forced myself to wait with down-shifts despite the race adrenaline.
Bloody top result Red, a credit to you and your team.

Couch drives reduce shock loads on gearboxes, so I guess Slipper Clutches do even more to reduce shock loads from hard accelerations in racing. Search for more power, even better news.

Main purpose in designing and building the Slipper clutches Tippie was to stop the engine damage being caused by Matt down shifting too early
As I said above I had at least one engine rebuild after every race meeting, sometimes both engines all caused by over revving the engine by down shifting too early
The performance gain and end result of lowering our Lap records was a secondary benefit, engine rebuilds got to the point where to continue racing was costing far too much

Matt has never really ridden an old clunker having always raced more modern bikes, he tried very hard to adjust his riding style to suit the requirements of the engine but never really mastered that art
Now he can ride the bikes the way he wants to, not how they needed to be ridden

Slipper clutches work in the opposite direction Vince, they unload the forces on the engine under braking caused by the rear wheel driving the engine

First Slipper clutches were designed by Honda for their oval piston 500 race bikes when they tried to compete against the 2 strokes
Engine braking was causing far too much damage and costing them way too much time against the 2 strokes

I guess I should have said banging down changes with massive engine braking and resulting sudden high revs instead of accelerating. Those sudden shock loads would be substantial. Great result all round. Mr Honda would be proud, that oval thing was at the exteme of engineering., I dont think they ever got the rings to work for a full race..

Not the sudden shock, Vince - the damage cause by simply over-revving on downshifts - more transferring stress to parts of the motor that don't like it

Round 5 this weekend at Eastern Creek, Sydney.

All the best for Redax Laverda, Matt and the team.
Let's hope the track is dry by race day.

For this round, the two Redax racers are up the front of the van with a couple of Ducati racers at the rear, as Matt is taking down his BMW F1 racer in his other van.

Set up in Sydney, is cold, wet and miserable
Supposed to clear tonight
Looks like another boring day in the pits, doubt we will even bother going out

The grass runoff will be bottomless and probably leaking onto the circuit. So much rain and not drizzle either.
