The French contract is gone, we are going Nuclear with the Subs with help from the Yanks and Poms. This will erupt, in some quarters. And mean a local Nuclear Industry, and maybe THE BOMB not sure on that bit. Massive News and why Scomo is heading to Washinton.

Think its in the title, I haven't read anything yet other than they are nuclear powered.
No mention of the bomb so far.

But please correct me if I'm wrong.:unsure:
 
Just listened to the announcement: as an ex-submariner it makes sense and is really the only way to go to remain competitive but 'conventional' submarines do have their advantages.
The Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and the International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) control of the nuclear technology will be interesting.
The submariners of the future will be happy, years of training in the US on full subsistence.

Maybe so, but they'll have to throw away their French tourist maps. The South of France did have some appeal over Southern California.🤔

No bomb or local Nuclear Industry. I watch the live link from the 3 partners. So conventional weapons and hunter-killer style subs. Way better way to go, and it will get a response from our northern friends.
 
What a waste of money and how much is it going to cost to pull out of the French deal and how much have we already spent on the French subs.
Happy they are going to be built in SA, we don't need to be playing with Nukes over here.
Property values have increased shit loads in my area since Covid. All the real estate had sold and any blocks that come up sell straight away.
Every fucker now wants to live here. Instead of 1 car driving past my place daily we now have 3

It's fine to have objections to have misgivings about the way China goes about its business - i certainly do. But can i ask that racist terminology like 'slanty-eyes' be left out of the convo? It just harks back to the days when we didn't know any better. Sorry to sound PC, but ...

I wasn't suggesting I was talking about China, but I used "slanty eye brigade" because, it could be China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan or Indonesia that press the buttons. Guess what, none of their eyes are round, but rather, sla...... BTW, thanks for reminding me how to spell "slanty-eyes" ;)
 
Some of you may know that I have no love for China...... :unsure:
Truth is, its the CCP that my beef is with, not the the Chinese people per se.
I also dont like the the term slanty eyes,or speaking with some fake chinese accent either.
As my wife of nearly 30 years is from Asia I do find it a bit tiresome, especially considering she is fluent in at least 4 languages.
However.....
To do that to a Pink Floyd song is just wrong on so many levels...:(
and needs to be sorted...
