Hi Nadia, I am glad you found your friend GW.
Every 5 years or so we have an Australian Laverda Rally at our farm located 14k's out of Bellingen. The farm is accessed via a causeway over the Kalang river. We have another one planned for the end of Sept this year. Actually it was planned for last year but C19 put an end to that.
Crossing the causeway is normally not a problem but sometimes the weather gods have different ideas. The video Dellortoman mentioned is on this link
This was in 2009. About 2 weeks earlier the water was nearly 10m deep on that causeway. It is usually about 6 inches deep.

By the way I own two Guzzi smallblocks along with several Laverda's so there is definately no issues with turning up on a Guzzi!
As Vince stated I do not think the Laverda community is that exclusive to really care what bike someone turns up on. If its itallian then all the better.

Wow Bruce,

I love that video and trust me I could make an incredible mess of that crossing, that is truly a right of passage. I think I’d send the gin over with a way more capable rider.

I have a little Honda but we won’t mention that 😵‍💫. My Guzzi is a 2015, V7 II Stone (Matt black of course).

G still has his Desmo, Jota - (repaired now thank goodness) and a couple of Harleys (but I won’t hold that against him). He tells me that he did break his leg last year, launching, out of a truck.

I’m not sure if we will meet up anytime soon as I’m pretty sure he isn’t that keen to reacquaint himself with the woman who bingled his favourite bike, neither of us ever married nor did either of us ever have kids - but he does still sound like the gorgeous man I knew 40 odd years ago. Funny thing we both have a bevie of cattle dogs each.

Hi Laverda Forum Members and Friends,

Thank you all so much for helping me find my friend G. It has been a delight sharing your stories and getting to hear from so many of you.

As many of you know Red was able to put me in touch with G and as expected he has a lovely lady in his life - all be it a long distance relationship and I truly wish them both the very best.

I will not remain in contact with G as I truly respect his privacy but cannot thank you all enough for your help.

The only regret I have is that misinformation from the guy (person unknown who was with me when I had the accident) as G says “destroyed two people’s lives”.

Cherish the truth - and I wish you all great fun and terrific trips and one day I may see you on the road.

It was interesting to hear your story too Nadia. I'm sorry it won't be an on-going friendship with Graham, but on the positive side it seems you've made some new friends here. Having crashed a Jota in a big way, I reckon you're an honorary member of the Laverda family.

I dunno what part of Australia you live in now, but I'm sure you'd be made to feel welcome if you turned up at any Laverda gathering or ride, especially now that you've made yourself known to us. We're a pretty easy-going lot of mostly old farts (with a few exceptions) with members all over Australia and the world. Stay tuned here if you'd like to maintain the connection. If not then all the best and ride safe on that Guzzi. Keep it shiny side up, you've already busted yourself up enough for one lifetime.

I would feel honoured to maintain a connection with you and your fellow members and being an “old fart” myself I generally feel very comfortable around like minded other old farts 🥳.

I live in Bathurst now, so please everyone, there is always a bed or mattress on the floor. PS it may well be covered in dog hair but - well what can I say.

When I read that Graham received erroneous info about your condition/relationship/survival, I did think 'Ouch, the new-connection must have hurt, on many levels'.

I imagine the resultant mess weighed heavy, on more than one mind.

Nevertheless, I'm glad you found Graham and at least put some ghosts to bed.

Re: Laverda get togethers.... Having had the pleasure of spending some time with the Aussie BFN Euro-raid members, I can assure you the typical Aussie Laverda owner appears to be a fine, reliable, noble, respectable, well balanced chap (but not Chris, he can't even sit on a 4-legged chair without gravity getting the better of him).

Anyway - stick around here if you can. I really like the cut of you jib.

Hey Nadia there is a bit of a get together happening at Karalbyn hosted by the Qld Laverda club late in March if you feel like going for a ride. Only a few hours up the road from Bathurst too.
There will even be a few of the Aussie BFN Euro raid members attending

Many thanks for your sentiments and you couldn’t be more correct, it has truly been tough and I thank you for your understanding.

However, neither G nor I are those silly kid we were 40 odd years ago (perhaps still silly but not so young 😎 anyway) when truly sh…ty decision were made based on nonsense information.

I don’t plan to disappear anytime soon so hope to catch up with some of the guys and gals on this forum in the near future.
