Burt Munro 2023

That looks like a hoot……pinned then sideways on repeat 😎
The longest race is 50 laps, i.e. 50 miles. Repeat and repeat and repeat… about half the field doesn’t finish. You can see the riders are knackered by half way, especially the ones on the bigger bikes. It’s an endurance race in 30 minutes 😁

Last time I was down there i was at scrutineering and saw several big road bikes "beach conversions". GSXR1100 with knobbly tyres was one.
I asked the rider how he got his leg over as the size of his balls must pose a probem. I wouldn't have ridden it on the beach or anywhere for quids.

There was a Harley in the mix, I didn’t see his stones 🤣

I like the looks of this one.

Aratere? Which is still in service, when it's not under urgent repair... Although Bluebridge has also had it's share of problems. Maybe you're right, the Cook Straight must be hard on the gear:

I see the interislander broke down again. !

“What the fucks a corn dog?” I asked a bloke next to me at a Willie Nelson outdoor gig in Texas. Seemed like the whole crowd turned to look at me all wondering what planet I was from 😆

Yep. And now we’ve got weather issues. All ferries cancelled today due to a cyclone. We’re booked for Wed morning, hopefully it’s calmed down a bit… 🤢
Yeah thats a bugger. My sister lives in Kawakawa bay near clevedon, they are having getting battered at the mo

The crowds down here have been fantastic, events were well organised and the weather has been incredible, calm and sunny. Sunburn has been a feature event 🤣

So now we are homeward bound. Great conditions up the West Coast, tar seal is dry and crispy, and we’ve been giving it a fair handful. I’m teaching Big Dan how to use the whole tyre 🤣. There’s some beautiful twisties, and some really long straight roads too, where we can let the harleys get well ahead before we get to the proper bits 😉

Crown Range summit, not the best place for a photo but it’s a really steep serpentine going straight up from Queenstown. Planes flying in to the international airport actually fly down the valley below the summit!

It’s virtually illegal to go past here without taking a photo:

Haast Pass, what a fantastic road:
