Circumnavigation of Oz take 2

If your heading to Serate from Roma watch out for the Paddy Melon Holes in the road, they bitumen right over them, they are depressions in the road about 3m across and 500mm deep. Its a very odd Geological thing that has a tendency to knock the wind out of you, there are thousands of them in that area and they're hard to see and avoid also known as a Gilgai

Back in the early 70’s I lived just down the road from Bill Moss’s farm in Maine. He had a small shop in his barn sewing tents, I’m surprised he sold his products so far afield.

Back on line, no internet in Winton. Stayed in a van park cabin, very cosy, had dinner in town with Red, which was great. He covers 1000km a day in the race van. At mt Isa tonight, about to deal with an overheating problem.😁

Qantas museum in Longreach not as good as I had hoped. Nothing on Temora. Some good stuff, but I guess I was expecting more. No access to the Connie or 747 unless you get a guided tour which were all booked out.

It's just great to be out in it, rolling along. Watching the eagles glide over you as they use the heat off the road for lift. When I see them on the road, I hit the brakes and let them take off, sometimes half a dozen of them, going in all directions. Seen plenty of emus, but they seem in a hurry to get home and tell their mates they saw a couple of Laverdas. Some big grey birds today, maybe brolgas? They weren't scared of the bikes.

Sounds beautiful Mr moose, living the dream.
Mind you its pretty good back in Sydney too.....
Still raining...
Still cold.....
And still windy...
Tops.

Very jealous, enjoy it to the max!

I had a huge Wedgetail Eagle take off from a road kill while heading to Wilson Prom once and fly next to me, very close for ages, brilliant and scary at the same time. Making great memories there Mr Moose.
