FWIW, you can adjust the ignition map to suit a carby setup or settings, conversely you can hold an ignition map and adjust the carbies to match the ignition map. There is a notable degree of same result in engine performence ( on the road most notable ) with either approach or methodologies.
Best Cylinder load being a most prominent. CR motors did require a retard when in the upper rev range, the factory exhaust ( silencer variations aside ) provided even proper back pressure at elevated rpm, 36DBTDC was pulled well early, in the rpm spectrum, backed off to yield a strong pulling motor to redline. Had a stock Corsa and an SFC1000 with P1 cams ( waste of time sorting that motor with a subtle ignition map ) to do the road trials on.
Dyno is a tool, not so much a panacea for this is best. Static device, useful in gauging relative engine operation, road is different again. Short shifting gears, hard on the brakes, WOT at lower rpm, etc. Thoughts from a Heretic.... grin. j
