Can anyone tell me of a box section swingarm from another manufacturer that will fit in the back of a 1000 3C frame with a little work?

Thanks

I think I used one of those (or similar) in the back end of my 500 race bike. Worked quite well.
BTW, I have an RGS swinging arm going spare if you want to go down that route instead.
And although I haven’t tried it, but perhaps should, I wonder if a Zane one will fit.

The Zane can be adapted.
A departed friend raced a triple with Zane front and rear ends.

Not hard to make a rear brake work - you're modifying anyway, so modify out the poor design!
So he has a rear drum brake that works, and he should fit a disc brake that does not work as well and modify it so it does work? That is like saying he should replace the triple motor with a 350cc twin and then modify it to make it work as well as the triple?

The rear drum is the best rear brake Laverda ever had. Once they went to a rear disc it did not work as well and by the time they made the SFC1000, they had a rear brake that did not work at all.

And if he has a rear drum, he has wheels with spokes. It will be very interesting to see how he adapts a rear disc to a Laverda drum brake rear wheel?

Isn't the RGS swingarm wider than a 3C swingarm? Thought it needed to be machined to fit in the 3C / CL frame?

I think you are right Gerald, if the RGS type did fit (I dont think it will) then he could fit an SFC1000 swinger

I have Jota swing arm that I will swap for your drum rear brake and swingarm and all the bits to fit up a rear disc, straight swap?
the Laverda swing arm is plenty good enough as it is, the thickness of the tubing takes some believing if you ever see one cut up, underbracing was added by some and this did absolutely nothing, except add weight the same aplies to the Metmachex and other alloy swing arm, (I would like to weigh one of those!) which I dont think they made for rear drum.

Just making the point that if he is going to a disc rear, making it work is dead easy - probably no more than choosing as more sensible dia master cyl. I ran a 280mm disc and Brembo 08 caliper on a spoke rear hub with a (from memory) 5/8 master cylinder and it was strong and progressive. Not sure why anyone would live with a crap rear brake simply because the factory made it that way, when a solution is so simple!

The DOHC twin rear disc is excellent.
Laverda made a variety of models.
