Laverda 1000 3C Box section swingarm question

2 rear discs, that's how it reads. The single floating front on the Atlas is brilliant so they did know how to build brakes that work.

RGS swinger fits the 3C frame well once the pivot tube has been modified, widths at the axle mount are identical. I've done this a couple of times, works well with other steering-related mods.

The rear drum is the best rear brake Laverda ever had. Once they went to a rear disc it did not work as well and by the time they made the SFC1000, they had a rear brake that did not work at all.

And if he has a rear drum, he has wheels with spokes. It will be very interesting to see how he adapts a rear disc to a Laverda drum brake rear wheel?:unsure:

What makes you think he is taking the original rear disc brake? If you are building something with a box swing arm, you want to make use of it. for that, the original rims are a) to heavy and b) to narrow. He could use the GSX-R-conversion, which can include the rear-disk-brake setup, too, easily (and cheaply...). This gives enough feel (together with the GSX-R rear master) to get even a sticky BT012SS go up in smokes if you hit the lever seriously.

I did not like the rear-setup of the drum brake Laverdas I rode. They were blocking the rear on the slightest touch, which I felt was less controle and more dangerous than a rear disk brake that is set up right. But that's me, each to their own.
 
I think Peter Marks, don‘t know his name here, has used the Zephyr swinging arm for the Blue Elise.

Great looking bike, except for those horribly routed braided lines to the fairing where I guess there is an oil filter mounted? Some side covers would help as well.
 
It's a deliberate omission Vince - the battery will be very low and the builder has sought to keep that space empty on purpose. The braided lines lead to a very nifty remote oil filter IIRC. I like it all.

needed some machining, too, if I am not mistaken. Great bike and nice and honest bloke. Know him since almost 30 years now. Helped me on some CAD drawings and with sources for getting things laser-cut recently. True enthusiast! Has a (or two?) 500 SFC and a 750 S (Zane), too, along some other nice bikes. pretty sure he will give you any info you desire if he has them. Just ask ;-)
