The longest postage time I ever experienced was a small parcel from Canada that took 3 months to arrive in Tasmania. And that was pre-Covid!
I think most of that hold-up was Australian Customs. It must have fallen down the back of their couch. Probably discovered when some fat bloke sat on the couch and it jabbed him in the arse.

For me at least Australia has been one of the worst places to post or in particular ship anything to. Customs extremely slow to release anything. Back in the 90's I shipped a Norton in one crate and Triumph in another crate to a mate in Adelaide just over 3 weeks shipping time by ship from the USA to Adelaide they both sat in OZ customs for 6 weeks before they sent a notification to Phil, my mate, demanding not only the import tax on the bikes, fair enough but they also valued the shipping crates and collected tax on the value of the crates.
I later encountered a similar problem when I shipped a Camaro too, tax on the vehicle OK, but they then levied a 70% tax on their estimated value of the tires and wheels fitted to the Comaro, factory standard wheels FFS! Shipping company excellent, OZ customs friggin lazy arseholes NOT WORTH PISSING ON!

That kinda shit makes you very angry, Dave Smart arse power mongers are the worst kind.

I had an Apple computer charger take 2 months from Asia to Oz years ago - I checked the tracking and it went via Vienna!!! Classic error of mistaking Australia (that place with high mountains between Italy and Germany and Austria (where kangaroos live)

I have found shipping from France to the middle of British Columbia to be extremely fast ....... about 5 working days or less.

French Post Office are very good.
I addressed a parcel to the UK recently.
After 3 weeks, the person I'd sent it to said that he hadn't got it, so I looked up the tracking number. The parcel had been in Ukraine for 2 weeks at least.
So I phoned post office enquiries. That was the hard bit. You need to fight the dragon after having found your way out of the swamp with the quicksand before getting a human on the phone.
4 days later, the parcel had arrived in the United Kingdom.

I sent a swing arm to the United Kingdom last week. Deposited at the village post office on the Tuesday afternoon, it arrived Friday morning.

Public service. None of that Margaret Thatcher market rules stuff.

I bought some stuff from USA last year. The seller had addressed it correctly to me in Montrose, Australia. When it hadn’t arrived after two months he was able to track it down to sitting in a post office in Montrose, Scotland. After another 4 weeks it arrived on my doorstep. 🧐

freight whoes do seem to have hi-jacked the thread.
My recent experience is that most items coming out of europe descend into Singapore, to be seen 5 months later. Matters not a jot if the now horrendous freight charges paid for 'express' delivery or not.
Mind, I did get 2 larger boxes in 7 days from Hungary in January with express freight charges paid, and a small package from Taiwan in 2 days via surface mail (as against USD35 for 4-5 days express air delivery - go figure that one).
I currently have a small package sitting in Singas for 5 months from Italy, and another which arrived there last week en route to Sydney from Austria. 1 day from sender in Austria to Singas..... now I wait.
I have no problems usually with paying express freight if I need it - which i usually don't - but then I expect to receive the express service, not be given lame excuses.
Being able to track your shipment is great, but not so great when it just sits, and sits and grows roots.

Same for nme CK. Brought something from a Oz supplier, got a reply to say they were out of stock and refunded my money. When checking my visa account I noticed the exchange charges that didn't get refunded. Sort of pissed me off really. The reason I brought from that seller was the fact they were Sydney based.

It's a new trick - au website, but obviously NOT coming from anywhere that kangaroos live!

Brother Lee said he got something from a Norwegian website with NO info about said goods being NOT from Norway. and was then charged import duties because it was actually a detoured foreign website made to look local - personally I think that's blatantly illegal activity, misleading and false. In Oz we have the ACCC for complaints about stuff like this.

When I was having issues with getting the correct rear rim out of England 2 Christmases ago they said after a phone call on the Monday a week before the holiday break that they would send me a replacement. So I am thinking ZERO chance of that happening before at least mid-January. I get a knock on the door 4 days later and there was the rim. How they managed to send it from the Midlands of England to Sydney in 4 days right on Christmas to my door amazed me. Mid pandemic I ordered a couple of parts from the USA, one arrived in 7 days and the other 2 and a half months.

I hope we can find out what the problem is.

After many calls/mails to customs, GLS and seller it became clear, that the formular CN22 was filled correctly from the seller at the start of shipping. After 17 days "freezing" in the fright-center of GLS in Neuenstein, the partner of the UK Royal Mail, the package went on moving.
Yesterday the used frames arrived and I thought "now every thing is ok".

Today I got a bill from GLS with 5(!) Pages that say, I have to pay aditionally 22,03 EUR for tax (7,51 EUR) and fees.
Remember: The price including shipping for the used frames where £ 34.99.

To pay taxes is no problem for me. But why do I have to pay fees, when i didn´t order anything from GLS?
No one asked me or informed me, about additional costs.

Under these conditions it makes no sense to buy articles in UK at the moment.

When i buy things from USA, Canada or anywhere outside EU, I never had such problems.
I hope they will come very fast to a normal procedere.

So they charge you a fortune for holding up your delivery. Not really a sound business strategy.
It's the same here but in reverse, the vultures want their cut of EU trade.

Seems to be a problem now rather specific to Germany.
Shipping back to normal in France from the UK after a couple of weeks of mess at the beginning of the year.
Transit times back to normal. No surcharge on small goods.

UK to Sweden is a pain, the son lives in Sweden and guaranteed if we send 2or 3 parcels for Christmas/birthday whatever, one of the parcels will disappear into the ether, never to be seen again, royal fail, parcel farce or any other method, always same ...we just put cash in his account now.

At least you got hold of your package... Ordered a lampshade from the UK way before Christmas, now I get a mail from DPD in the Netherlands that I will first have to pay no duties but 21% NL VAT because that's where it entered the EU (in Germany it's 19%) plus 6€ for their fee before they will ship it further. And then it'll never arrive because DPD as a matter of routine will chuck your parcels out of the truck outside of buildings anywhere in town and forge your signature.
