Moto GP starting this weekend

Jack's complaint is exactly what he was talking about in a recent interview. How the hell do you ride a bike that performs completely different in every corner controlled by your position on track and GPS readings, even if it works correctly. If it's giving wrong setting like Red's post, that's absolutely crazy dangerous. I thought they had limited the effects of electronic adds or in this case sabotage.

Because they have way more power than can be handled at any other than the last half of the main straight. Rest of the time it's dialled down to what the tyres and/or cg of the bike can handle.

This issue has has happened several times over the years. GPS was banned but they use the timing loops in the track to determine position - every track apparently has many more than the 3 timing loops that are used for determining the typical 4 track sector times. Queue the 'bring back carbs and points' brigade... :)
 
Naa, well past points. Just imagine not being certain as to how much go you get every time you open the throttle especially when close dicing with others. I guess it's been the same as control has evolved using fly by wire. How long till they use robots as weigh biases in the corners instead of humans. It's fast heading that way in Fighter Jets, drones in Moto GP. What was that top speed, 362.4kph, I remember lots of attempts to reduce top speed over the years? Amazing to think of doing that and approaching a corner.

Same thing happened to another Duc a couple of years back. Thought they'd solved it. From memory the system then used GPS rather than track reference points. I'd assume the current electronics have to use terrestrial based references.

How do you ride it ? Blind faith brought on by a generation of riders who have known nothing but electronic aids. From day one they're told "Trust the bike, it knows more than you " If the telemetry shows they're not wot where the bike expects it - and can modulate response - it is a black mark against them.
 
Sounds like the bike needed an OFF switch for all the clever electronic stuff. He might then have been able to finish by going back to the old fashioned method of controlling the throttle with his right wrist.
 
Looks like MM #93 is out to break his own record, In season 2021 he crashed 22 times and he finished the season in the top 10. So far this year it is a total of 4 crashes the last one in Indonesia was nothing short of spectacular, how he managed to walk away from it is simply amazing. Fantastic performance from the GP riders in the wet, skill beyond my imagination, WOW!
 
How they get used to wet weather rubber that allows them to scrape their knee is beyond me - those tyres have more grip in the wet than decent road rubber would give you in the dry. A far cry from the K81s my SF1had on it when i bought it - it would spin through 1st, 2nd and 3rd accelerating in a straight line. Not all that confidence inspiring when cornering in the wet!! Things have improved greatly but we'll never experience the degree of wet grip those GP tyres have.

Brad Binder gave a good exhibition of what happens to them after half a lap on a dry track when he gambled and won that race last year!! Hubba Bubba bubblegum type stuff!
 
So I bit the bullet and got sport added to my Foxtel and watched all the practice saw the big crash live in the morning warm-up and both support class GPs but I had a dinner invite so tried to tape the big one. You would think I would know better and set to record at least a couple of hours after the race in the case of RAIN. Yep, I completely missed it, I couldn't even see if the race happened without seeing the results on the web. I watched the replay the next day.

Have you got the fox box hooked up to the interwebz (cable or wifi both work)? If so, you can just go backwards in the guide and select the program immediately after the live motogp one and stream that. They will always bump pre-recorded stuff if a live event like that is running over time. That's what I did for qualy that ran over time and my recording missed the last 5 minutes.

Entertaining race, crazy conditions. I'm glad for the Indonesian fans that they got a race in, it's an awesome track and will be brilliant once they've sorted out the track surface and surrounding facilities. Apparently it's very much overpriced though and Lombok hard to get to for the weekend so most locals can't afford to go. Still, took me a few years to get around to attending Phillip Island GP's and as a young race fan I still got a kick out of us having our own GP.

That Marquez crash was insane, hope he is ok. Testament to the safety gear, slammed down onto bitumen from 15 foot, hip, shoulder, head. Ouch. Even now there's surely an element of luck involved to walk away. Glad he stayed clear of the bike this time.
 
No, it's just the Hi-Def box, ok more tech shit beyond my caveman's brain to connect with. It looks like my very early prediction as to Marc sailing constantly too close to the edge and major injuries is occurring, it's taken way longer than I expected. It's a shame but you just cannot smash yourself to bits over and over attempting to find the edge without career-ending consequences. Sad but inevitably true. The track looks stunning
 
Ring up fuxtel and ask for an IQ4 box (or whatever is the newest one), it should cost you nothing. I think I might have had a fee of something like $50 for mine (IQ3) a few years back, but heaps of people have got the upgrade for free (especially if your hd box has some hard to pinpoint intermittent issues wink wink...).
They're ripping you off, anyone signing up now will get an IQ4 and pay the same (or likely less). If they don't immediately agree just ask to be put through to disconnections, that gets their attention! Ask to get HD thrown in too while you're at it (if you don't already).
