Moto GP starting this weekend

So true about MM. We watched him ride beyond the 'normally possible' for several seasons, untouchable by any of the other incredible riders out there - stuff like completely losing the front or rear and using an elbow and a leg to get it back in line and continuing on!! I always thought the the laws of chance meant that eventually the purple patch would end and it really has ended with a loud and painful crash back to earth (literally!). Last year's lost season and then the desire to relive the golden days are the reason for the current spate of stacks. It must be so hard for him, knowing how hard be has been able to push in the past, but finding that every time he revisits those limits it goes awry.
 
Asparagus, P's comment regarding the newly upgraded Honda vs the traction available form the "old" tyres is quite interesting. Apparently huge problems with grip due to the increased power. Wonder how it is affecting the other makes and if that is what is keeping the Yamahas competitive.

News today is he crashed himself cross-eyed again. Not good.

As someone who has an eye issue, balance and depth perception not being 100% puts a hand brake on performance just at normal speed. I need to look twice a lot, especially in dull light conditions. A lot is in how the brain interprets information changes over short and long terms. It has the capacity to adjust, Just new glasses has me feeling a bit nauseous for a few days, it will be interesting to see if he comes good.
 
Just looking Moto Gp unlimited on amazone prime, it is intresting cause you see something behind the scenes and also more about the riders and teams. Jack can open beer bottles with his teeth, must have learned it in OZ…. 🤣
 
For reasons unknown Amazon has chosen not to show MotoGP Unlimited on the AU service :(. Fortunately with a VPN I can connect to the US Prime service and see it, but kinda irritating to have to do that

I just spent my entire Sunday watching the entire MotoGP Unlimited 2021 season, start to finish on Amazon Prime. Exceptional. Highly recomended. Unfortunately watching the entire season has left me with an urge to go buy a Ducati V4 Panigale.... I have not been interested in Ducati's since about 1980, but going to swing by the local Ducati dealership this week and at least have a test sit to see if could tolerate the riding position.:ROFLMAO:;) we'll see.
 
My choice would be the Pikes Peak Multistrada. But with a more restrained livery and less praying mantis style bodywork. If you get a test ride let us know how it goes in the real world.
 
I was quite keen on getting a BMW RR 1000 after watching the superbikes a few seasons back. The Perth dealer had a reasonably priced low one in his showroom. Sat on it for about 20 seconds - nuup. Definitely not for the sort of riding I do. Would have hilled my wrists, shoulders back and arse. Had simialr results from the MV Agusta 1000 and 675. Ended up opting for the Triumph Sprint and loving it, after all it is a sports tourer 1000 triple.
 
I rode a V4S for half a day. It was fun to get catapulted every time you open the throttle, but most of the time it shouted ‘you’re incompetent, you don’t deserve me’. The bike was right..

After I returned de Ducati to the dealer, it felt so great to wack open the throttle of the Zanè 650 on my way back home without being scared shitless.. 😅

Totally agree, Marnix. I won't go near the things. Lose your licence or kill yerself before you've even got down the end of the street.

Track bike - fine, but only if you have the wallet. Street bike? No.

I'll stick with my 350 :). Much more within my capabilities ...

Yeah Moto GP Unlimited is certainly binge-worthy, it is an exceptional documentary series. It puts a human face on those heroes in leathers and reveals just how brutal Moto GP can be, watch it.
V4 Panigale, do you practice origami, how bout yoga, an amazing bike if you have the physical and mental ability to actually ride it even at 6/10ths of what it is capable off, adios license.
 
I took an MV Agusta F4 1000 for a test ride a few years ago. I loved it. I felt completely at home when I sat on the bike. The ergonomics of the riding position were perfect for me. It was a test ride day put on my the dealer, so I was riding with a group of people who were test riding some of their other bikes. I was initially at the back of the pack. But after a few corners I was at the front, accelerating away and wondering why everyone else was going so slow. Then I looked at the speedo and I was doing 180 in a 100 speed limit, and I was only in 3rd gear. If I'd bought that bike, my licence would have been gone within a week.
 
didn't even get as far as a test ride. Hopped on a Panigale V4 S in the showroom, asked the sales guy if it would be possible to fit the upper triple tree and bars from the much more humane SuperSport, he laughed, and I left...... They only had 3 new Ducati's total in stock anyway, I would have liked to at least test sit a MultiStrada but none to be seen.

Salesman of the month. I have experienced similar numerous times with bike and car sellers, can't get you out of their showroom fast enough. Others manage to get you hook line and sinker.
A great story from a champion Aussie swimmer, who got inspired to buy a flash hotrod Holden ute, checked his sponsor cheques, dropped into the local Holden dealer with his similarly dressed mate (board shorts and teeshirt) and checked out the said ute on display. The salesman "nice car there boys, save up some money and come back when you can afford it". So he went up the road to the next dealer and bought one for cash. I´ll bet that first salesman's boss heard about it too.
 
They are popular, manufacturers are smart tapping into us mere mortals with our Moto GP and Dakar Fantasys. Probably smarter than I expected. My cousin the bike righter offerer, he goes way harder than his talent, bought one of those BMWs with the full power 4 cylinder sports bike engines in an Adventure Bike Chassis, long-travel suspension. I had never heard of these model BMWs, I thought why would anyone want a 200hp Adventure bike. But when you think about it, an extremely powerful comfortable bike with suspension that works on really crap back roads with less chance of running into a cop, so BMW Ducati MV Guzzi and lots of others have identified this market and build bikes for it. Who knew. BTW some of the tech is amazing, active radar front rear and side, active ride mods for power braking and suspension. The only limiting issue is Muili road bikes are limited to what tyres and wheels are on them at the time. I was reading lots of complaints that the big KTMs have dealer mandated engine power limits when fitted with off-road wheels and rubber, the same bike in Europe has no dealer set engine limits and the yank owners are not happy their advertised 180hp bikes only have 130 and they're all looking at workarounds.
