What did you do to or for or with your Laverda today?

Fitted my original Lav rechromed downpipes to the Sprint.Lovely.

More on the TS later today.

I set out to upgrade the brakes on my Mirage, swapping the OEM calipers for the Brembo 4 piston calipers.  It appeared that I would be able to use the existing lines, but that proved impossible.  It's not that the length is different but rather the fact I can't remove the fittings on the calipers to enable the use of the banjo bolts.  I tried penetrating oil  and a bit of heat with a torch but all I did was bugger the ends of the bolts.  I give up.  I'll have to buy new lines that screw directly onto the caliper fittings and forget about the use of my present lines.
Actually, maybe someone on the list could use 'em.  They are one year and some change old and in perfect condition.

I completed the upgrade on the wheels and brakes on Tim's RGA, long term owner bike this one and also a high mileage bike
Now has the Suzuki GSXR rims front and back, brand new 310mm floating Rotors, brand new 4 pot calipers and Radial master cylinder up front
brand new rear rotor and caliper with our caliper adaptors front and rear
had to install a Boba front guard as the new fat tyre was fouling the original chunky guard

I know most people are not fans of the RGA styling but this bike is coming along quite nicely now
in last 10 months we have totally rebuilt this engine and installed 36mm Mikuni carbs
new exhaust system on the way from Canada

I quite like the hotch potch styling of the RGA.
With these mods it will go and stopwell.
Any suspension updates planned?

have already done the Gold valve conversion on the front forks with new Eibach springs set up with 25mm preload
Tim has rear shocks on his shopping list
he also wants to change out the headlight, dinged from a past tumble years ago and the bodywork badly needs the dents removed and repainted
work in progress

he tells us since we did the engine for him he has stopped riding his 3 year old Aprilla something and gone back to riding his RGA fulltime
prefers the whole overall feel of the RGA over a modern bike
that is great I believe

Well at least today I got a bit more than just listen to my bikes running and had the chance to go riding on two of my bikes!! now how do I do that you ask, well easy just had my mate Tom the wrecker drop in for a weekend of beers and bikes when my SFC in fear of Tom hopping on decided a plug should die to avoid abuse, bit of a bugger changing a plug, seat off tank off etc, but it wasn't getting out of it that easy and had a blast on the G.O.R this morning swapping between my old faithfull 81 Jota and the SFC1K, funny thing Its hard to match that great grunt from the beautiful 180 degree configured engine, although my 120 SFC pulls well from 3000rpm with not many gear changes.
Lifes good.

Hi Red, is the blue RGA you're working on from Adelaide? If so, then I often used to see
it parked outside Adelaide Uni. Regards, Dave.

no, this one lives on the outskirts of Brisbane, been in QLD forever
there is another Blue RGA here as well in Brisbane itself, ex UK owner and bike

Replaced a drive side engine mount, swing arm bearings and a DMC2 sensor on the RGS.
Started up fine, however, still has the annoying mystery, tinny rattle. More investigation
needed. Dave.

Little bracket behind the collector between the two exhaust that the centre stand stops on

Cosi,
Is that a spare bit of red fairing laying on the ground in front of your bike?

Today I took my red RGS (very similar to the above photo but without the red wheels) for a rideout to Devil's Bridge while the sun shone. Covered about 150 miles in dry sunny weather through beautiful country scenery including lovely limestone cliffs and escarpments. Unfortunately Mick (preparing to move house) and Steve (family commitments including a trip to the Blackpool illuminations) couldn't make it. What an afternoon they missed.
I have never seen so many motorcycles on the roads in my life apart from the day I drove to the Dutch TT races at Assen. Everyone must have been enjoying the fine Autumnal weather. Both car parks at Devils Bridge were overflowing which means well over 200 bikes there. Saw a beautiful Vincent Black shadow and several pre-unit Bonneville's but no other Laverdas unfortunately.
The RGS didn't miss a beat all day (it is still on it's original Bosch ignition system) and the new Michelin Pilot Active tyres stuck extremely well.
For me it has been a great riding week. What with Cadwell last weekend, the rideout today and another one planned for Tuesday afternoon( BBC say sunshine!), I could well cover 1000 miles on the bikes. That's not much to you die-hards, but considering that is my usual annual mileage on the Jota, you can see why I'm smiling now as I write this.

Cheers

A happy DoC!

Too hot in the shed Saturday, so early Sunday moring I was out on the lathe turning up some new shock mounts for the spine frame. Once finished I cleaned the pool and watch some of the Bathurst car race, is it me, or does it seem boring these days?

Looked at the oil cooler in the arvo, over a beer, and tried to nut out how to fabricate a mount for it, so it fits in behind the fairing. Beer is good for that, but now I sort of forget what I wanted to do. More beer seems to be in order.

Looked at it and wished I had more money to spend on it. However, the wife has agreed to a separate saving fund to buy her a mirage.

Had to ride to work this morning, car is in for a service. Bloody hell, the newest growth industry is sticking up speed restriction signs and witch's hats!
At the bottom of the south-eastern freeway, where the 'Welcome to Adelaide ' sign is, they should add 'expect delays'.
That's it, whinge of the day out of the way. :D
