BEARS Australia 2024

Safe travels, Red & Co. The Vic mob will be out there on the weekend to cheer on Team Redax. I think the forecast is looking OK, but possible showers on Friday and Saturday, and cold southerlies all weekend.

Gonna be one of those weekends, Red - wets, drys, damp track, dry track, cold track, showers ... max 13 degrees in Wonthaggi tomoz (close to La Isola) and southerlies - unfortunate fact of life in the deep south - you bring ya thongs?!

You're only in the shallow south. Teretonga outside Invercargill NZ is the southernmost FIA approved circuit. I've been there when it's snowed.
And I've been there when it was over 30C. But always there's a howling southerly. Often straight from Antarctica. I've seen riders pull the tyre warmers off a bike and wrap themselves in them to avoid hypothermia.

Best of luck for the weekend. Stay warm.

My one-and-one Island experience was the first GP, and it was great in the sunshine. In the shade and out in the wind, what did Barry Sheen call it? Hyperthermia central. I have been in a few Alpine blizzards and it's very close to that.

Did 2 sessions on the Mule, 1st time out damp track, 1min 52 secs

Second session, track cold but dry at least, 1min 48.4 secs, 1 second off our own Lap record for our class

Mule on song with her new engine, Slipper clutch working great, sorted out rear suspension way better with the 180 rear tyre

Looking forward to tomorrow

Hi Red, no news make us nervous, hope everthing went well.

Meeting turned out okay on Sunday, we scored 3 x 2nd outright and 3 x 1st in Class and lowered our own track record for our class

We would have been 1st outright but Stewards moved 2 x Yamaha's into our races for some dumb reason, no Jap bikes allowed in BEARS
They don't score points so we made 4 x 25 points for the weekend

Matt ran 1min, 46.8 secs on the Mule and low 42's on his BMW weapon which gives some idea on how well the Mule ran with her Slipper clutch

But having an issue with gearbox dropping out of 5th when he comes off the throttle like into Turn 1 and Clutch opens as it should
Need to look at that as it cost us at least 1 sec/lap

Overall, very happy with the Slipper Clutch and the new 180 rear slick set up
Mule was on song, just glorious listening to her come on to the main straight

Sydney in 4 weeks

Thanks for making the trek down to the Antartic Circle Red……🙌 even the Penguins went missing on Satdee. The spiced Rum after Sat racing got us thawed out and ready for day 2 action. Red/ Brett and Matt certainly had the Mule hunting along on the dry track, with best lap times dropping constantly! Loved The Guv’s comment after the morning session….. ‘how many races we had on those tyres Red’?
Wink wink nudge nudge 🤣🤣 with one session to run in the arvo and we’ll n truly in the groove!

Yes the Music coming from the Mule as ‘The GUV ‘ blew by the Pits and under the walkway was intoxicating 😎 The Southerly blowing it back along the pit wall as he disappeared into turn 1.

Safe travels home fellas, Catcha at Broadee. 👍IMG_8285.jpegIMG_8274.jpegIMG_8269.jpegIMG_8275.jpeg

Certainly a top weekend of racing - riders coping with every variation of conditions (including hail, but excluding an overheated track!). Was great to see the Matt and the Mule put on a classy show, the gaps between #22 and closest rivals were BIG. No idea why those two R7 Yamahas were bundled in with BEARS - it was some odd South Oz class. Must say, guy in front of each race was bloody quick, as was the bike - rather surprising for a 700cc twin.

Well done Red & Co. Thanks for making the journey.

Great shots…….. the GUV will need thinner knee sliders before to long 😎 oooh the 180 tyre cranked over!!
Red those ole clunkers you build certainly more than match it with current modern stuff👊
Pretty impressive getting off the line and keeping that 700 Yam behind him for a few laps on Sunday morn. Bravo !
