Hanu stayed at home once in Northern France on the way back from Maurizios. We met again at the Belgian rally a while later. To the difence of the Laverda in terms of Long distance riding: in the 90's as said, we used to go to the Pompone Meeting regularely. My brother went to italy way more often than me as he was living close to the Alps. On one meeting, he recognized a guy with a black SFC1000 (the first ever imported to Finland he said) that had a country sign on his fairing showing "FIN". Robert went over to him asking what this stands for. "Finland" Hanu said and they got into a chat about why it is not SF anymore but now FIN. Robert asked him where he parked his trailer and Hanu said, that he actually rode down from north of Helsinki to the coast, took a ferry to the German north coast and drove down to Italy. Roughly 24 hours of riding - and he did that 2-3 times a year...
Robert asked him if he is only going to italy for vacation and he said: "Yes and no - I go down to buy a bycicle and import it to Finland for friends."
My brother wondered how he transports it and Hanu said: "On the Laverda"
As Robert wanted to see that (and as he is a good host and open person), he invited Hanu to stay for a night at his location in Southern Germany. The below pic proofs the story...:
