The worst instant coffee I ever tasted was Pablo. I don't think it's available any more, or whether it was ever available outside Australia. It was dirt cheap so was the economical choice for businesses to provide in workplace lunch rooms in the 60s and 70s. It was truly disgusting stuff.

Amongst a disastrous two weeks, where the wife shattered her shoulder in an equestrian competition, my front tooth getting broken at easter, and no dentist in sight, my trusty espresso machine blew its element due to a blockage from lime scale, so the boiler wasnt automatically filling due to that ..... despite the filters and everything else that treats the water before it gets to the machine. While I was replacing the element i took advantage of the doing some remedial work on her while the12 litre boiler was empty, so a bunch of new parts are being replaced, seals, made from Viton, ptfe seals and copper crush seals. Lucky I keep spares in monumental quantities!. You can see how hot the boiler has got without water in there. The water run marks on the boiler are from turning the machine off for the times we go on vacation away from the shop, eg more than 4 days, cooling and heating of the machine loosens the seals of the pipes and allows a little water to get out , until they close up when hot.So the machine will get a full birthday this coming week

No danger that the boiler could blow? I know of normal hot water units that have gone bang due to being run partially filled.
Yeah I worry about that a bit. In the middle top of the photo is a pressure valve , but due to lack of water the element burns out and flicks the fuses. The last time I did a major rebuild this one was 5 years ago, so it’s doing pretty good. Normally it’s just replacing seals. This time round I will put the boiler in a de scaling bath for a week or so

I just had a nice cup of Nescafe instant coffee. Quicker, simpler, safer, cheaper, makes a more reliable brew with superior flavour, and no messing about with boiler maintenance.
I do own a couple of coffee making devices that use ground-up beans, but they're just for visiting coffee snobs who prefer coffee made using vintage methods.

I have a Nespresso machine. Better than the Keurig shit but otherwise just basically acceptable coffee.
Only other ways I make coffee are a stovetop espresso machine and an old billy can for making cowboy coffee when I go camping.

That's all I got .......

Yep, I am drinking Nescafe 'Clasico' dark roast instant for many years, cup, spoon, instant coffee, hot water, done, I always pack instant coffee for road trips, camping, EZ. Oh yeah and Teabags

"Copper Kettle" made everything else look like, well, coffee.

I cannot understand that in some foreign countries, the word coffee exists. They obviously needed to put a name on coloured tepid water.

Reckon "Ricoffy" is well down there amongst the "worst" instant coffees (assuming something which has less coffee than chicory can be classified as "coffee".....).
