Step by step

The remains of the bleeding nipple stick deep down in the hole. Only way to get those out would be EDM. I did not realize this in
my 1st attempt as the DPO placed a setscrew above to (successfully) seal the entire thing.

EDM, probably welding and time-serting is altogether doable ? but certainly would involve some cost and time.
Searching for a good used one is the 1st route to follow imho.

Cheers
Jo

got you... still think, with Piet's mechanical talent, it is a matter of maybe 30 Minutes to get the sucker out and carefully re-do the threads etc. if necessary... Not a to big deal... also one could think of using maybe a 8mm bleeding niple. Not 100% sure if it would seal the thing, but Piet could tell. To be honest, that would be MY first direction, as original P08 with the threads are hard to get...

Or - what about getting a time-sert insert into the mounting wholes of the P08 you just bought? That should give you the threads to install it on your bike as the original one...

I have had one of those broken niples removed by EDM , very successful and saved the calliper which as you know are on the shelf above the hens teeth, good luck  :)

Calipers without threads can't be converted for use in Laverda style Ceris - the part where the holes are is outboard, same place the holes in the forks are.

I have installed now the used procured caliper using two 8.8 M10x44 screws with washers and locknuts. No clearance problems
and shimming issues so far.

The caliper req?d some TLC though. One of the pistons was stuck, but with WD40, hot air gun and compressed air I got it out.
Now new coated pistons and seals are installed:

I will have the original caliper overhauled mid-term though.

A longer test drive today revealed no issues: :

As next target I will have an eye on the suspension ? in particular I?m not happy with the response / reaction of the fork to fine
bumps, etc.

Hi Jo,

besides a good service including proper cleaning, correct oil grade and level as well as new seals (if not yet installed), keep an eye on "relaxing" the fork properly, including the lower triple clamp down to the axle. Pretty sure you know what I mean, it is just often forgotten to be done.

if that does not help, search for "gold valve emulators" in this forum, you will find several descriptions and how to install information.

.
Thanks Lothar, I have started to search for it ...
:)

Another topic is that I think about changing the livery of my 3c mid-term. Despite orange is "THE" Laverda color, I personally am not
too enthusiastic about it on a 3c. Currently three colors in particular come to mind.

When I bought my 750 SF1 in 1980, it was light green metallic. That would look something like this:

Laverdamania says "Vert clair métallisé - Light metallic Green - PPG fleet color 45801", in the forums of this world is spoken by a Ford
color which should come close to this light green.

As a young man I did not like the light green at all, I immediately sprayed my 750 red. Today I think that it fits well with such a classic
bike and also it was an official sales color.

Red would still be considered today, here I would choose RAL 3020 traffic red (also listed for early 3c's at Laverdamania):

And I especially like the pastel blue (Bleu métallisé - Metallic blue, RAL 5024):

If someone has pertinent hints about the colors in question, I would be very grateful! In particular existing automotive colours which
would come as close as possible to the original Laverda colours. Or, any other individual approaches ...

Grant did a great job on POP I think, his "Pile-of-Poo"-Bike, assembled out of bits and with lots of interesting modifications. POP is painted in this "arctic/ice-blue" and looks just great. Same with (in Germany) Michael St?cker, he had also one bike in this color. see also the german forum:

http://www.laverda-register.de/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3429

as a color, red is a very classic look, but simply boring I feel (that said, I had my 750 SF also painted in red...). The light green isn't my cup of tea, but each to their own. Dark green (british racing green) is also VERY nice and not very common. Pretty sure, you will find a good color!

Lothar, not often you're right but you're wrong again...  :-*

POP is not painted Arctic Blue.
It is as close a colour match to a Lamborghini green that I could find.
From memory (!!!) it ?s a Honda car colour, Mist Green or something.

Depending on quality and angle of light it looked blue-ish, green-ish or even just silver.

It's gold now anyway.

Hi Grant, that is why I put the "artic blue" in this "". It was not meant to say it is actually arctic blue but for me I would describe it best as "kind of arctic blue".  :-*

What ever - good you can give him the right name, that was basically my main goal  :D

This is the closest I can show to compare POP's shade with another painted in a BMW colour (I recall), likely Arctic Blue.
Maybe Stefan can jump in to correct me if wrong, as it's his bike (on right).

Lot's of answers - jiehaa! Thanks for your input so far!

@Lothar:  Thanks for the link to the post on Laverda-Register. Even I did several searches I missed this particular one!

@Grant:  I recognized already Pops previous colour and it?s quite interesting.

If at all it looks a tad too green-ish for me as far as I can tell from the pictures .

@Shaun:  Thanks for the blue one ? I spotted it already in the pictures you did show in the calendar post. Is this a solid blue,
or, metallic? Is subject paint spec available?

I found a Ford colour which was on sale in Europe - it's called 'Avalon Grey'. Not sure if this could be a candidate - have to give
it a closer look.

Again, appreciate your help!!
:D

Solid pastel blue, original, I know of two bikes with it, no idea of code but maybe get a match with my sprayer, owner uses same one as me.

Fond memories, Grant. Quite close with your guess, but no cigar. It is called Glacier Green, BMW code 334. Name is a bit misleading, in reality it looks in most lighting conditions blue. Only at dim lights a slight greenish faint will show up. It was a near perfect match to a bit of original paint left at the rear of the side covers.

Thanks Shaun! Laverdamania mentions a metallic light blue paint close to RAL 5024, not a solid one. Never seen it on any leaflet / brochure though.

Thanks Stefan! Yours and Grants colour look close alike ? although you both used different starting points. This colour is by all means also a very nice and
interesting one. And maybe it is in fact the one I?m looking for. The metallic light / pastel blue appears to be more on the blueish from my point of view. Could
be deception ? I'm not entirely clear on this.

So I will try to track down more info wrt the pastel-blue metallic ? there is no need to hurry ...

Jo, quite difficult to get a proper impression of this colour by a photo. As already mentioned by Grant, its a kind of living colour and changes appearance widely depending on lights and viewing angle. Just another pic of it, under the bright Spanish sun, sitting next to POP.
