Finally got around to fitting the Pirelli Scorpion Trail to the front of AE (complete with flash scorpion embossing)
Took the opportunity to see how my new screw together tyre irons and mini compressor go. The tyre irons were nice to use but I will admit I used my old longer irons for leverage a couple of times! The mini compressor inflated the tyre quickly and seated it no trouble so pleased with that (bought to take on rides).
I think the Scorpion is not too aggressive and will pair well with the Sports Demon on rear (can't get a Scorpion for rear size anyway).
Of course with wheel off, forks came out for a service and some other tasks to do, so just gotta get everything back together for a try out..............

Checked where I buy Batterys and the Deca ETX 16L that I fully charged Saturday avo and wouldn't spin the bike to start on Sunday morning at 6am and 6c degrees, was replaced today with the same again. Its been load tested at least 5 times in the last 3 months and passed okish, today it's defiantly DEAD on their load tester. Their records only go back 5 years and it's older than that so I got my money out of it. Get back in the car with said battery and the car battery is also flat, they used their jumper box to get it going. I do heaps of short trips that drain the car and don't let it recover charge, I HOPE. It's on the smart charger as I write this. At least car batteries are way chapter than that bike battery, $255. This battery was on the bike well before that dash-mounted Volt gauge showed the regulator was allowing it to charge at 15.5 volts and more for who knows how long before it was discovered and the Regulator replaced getting it back to 14.2 volts. That high charge more than likely damaged the battery reducing its life span.

but those spokes
:) They seem to be holding the rims up ok............................
One thing with the spoked wheel - think next time I remove a tyre am tempted to go down the sealing route for tubeless. Either tyres are getting stiffer or my hands are getting weaker, but sorting the tube seems to be getting harder:censored: Tubeless would make roadside repairs much easier too...

These decisions are ultimately determined by use. Seal rims, fit tyres, don't push it. All good.
The crux would be if you are planning +200 cross country runs. The thought of rapid deflation squirmy front crosses the mind.

In between fitting the cladding to the east wall of the house extension, turned my new 19T 530 gearbox sprocket into a 520. Somewhat time consuming, and again using the Emco lathe for things it wasn't designed to do. But if I get the result, I'm happy. Angle grinder, thin cutoff wheel ... add an hour or two and stir. Remove the width then angle cut for profile.

Must ask Red (you reading this big fella?) if he has gearbox sprockets in 520 ready to go for net time!! Would also like a 20T if there are any already created - otherwise I have to cut and shut an old centre into a new 520 20T outer ... more hours of fun.

Was surprised that the 530 is nearly 2.5mm wider than the 520. With my engine shift 3mm to the right plus the 2.5 my 17x160 rear will have plenty of clearance and I don't have to outrig the sprocket at the gearbox and strain the weak output shaft-to-mainshaft link.

Lovely idea and set up.
