I would have thought by your ageHelps build the wanking hand
Now boys can we focus for a moment and can someone worry more about my GS pleaseI would have thought by your agethat you would already have an Olympic size hand 🖐 (Ooops naughty)
It does sound like you'd flooded it. Did the smokiness clear up?Now boys can we focus for a moment and can someone worry more about my GS please![]()
It was clearing but smelled terrible so I switched her off but will try your suggestion thanksIt does sound like you'd flooded it. Did the smokiness clear up?
If it happens again, roll the throttle wide open and hit the starter button. That should dry it out.
Ok, that sounds bad, to be honest it smelt more like hot rubber but if it helps the smoke bloom was white. And did it smell like petrol or oil? If petrol, could be a reminder for all to shut off the fuel when not in use. Nobody wants a 'hydraulic lock' event. Trust me.
Yep it was definitely white iis_What colour was the smoke?
That’s providing she’s not fuel injected which I’m guessing not cos of her age???
It needs to start before it can be ridden!Keep riding it and see if it keeps happening.
Really appreciate your help and explanation. I know Bathurst is blistering cold some mornings additionally, this has been an exceptionally wet winter. Both bikes (Guzzi and GS) have struggled this winter so I appreciate any helpI'd be very surprised if a 2010 BMW has carburettor induction. Pretty much everything was fuel injected by 2010 to meet emission standards.
I just googled the specs and it confirms fuel injection. It's difficult to flood an injected engine, but I suppose it's possible if the plugs are fouled.
A white cloudy emission coming out of the exhaust could be smoke or steam. If it hangs in the air for a long time and smells like smoke, then it's smoke. If it dissipates quickly, then it's steam.
Smoke is an indication of oil in the cylinder. That would explain the difficulty in starting too (oily spark plug). But how it got there is the question you need to answer. Has anyone worked on the engine since you last started it?
Steam is an indication of moisture in the engine, either from condensation or coolant leaking into the cylinder.
Check the oil and coolant levels and appearance. If they're normal, start it up again and let it warm up. If the cloud clears it may be ok. It could have just been a bit of water vapour from condensation. If it continues to blow smoke (or steam), then you have a problem that needs further investigation.
If either the oil or coolant look abnormal (milky appearance in oil or an oily scum in the coolant) then you could have a blown head gasket.
Let us know how you get on. Folks here aren't Laverda snobs. We're happy to help solve any problem.

Nothing touched J and they are not really accessible to street view - I’m now paranoid and thinking vandalismHello Nadia, manners prior, apologies. Mmmmmm its not over rich fouling, anything been changed or altered since the last time it was started? Prior to the current issue that is. j.
Yes it does have the Rotax engine and no I can’t hear it priming. All of your input is greatly appreciated, you can’t imagine the confounded looks I get taking it in for service but Dave Ward has been wonderful since I recently purchased the GuzziGS 650 Rotax engine ? If injection version Seems they have some electrical gremlins bit like the Zane - does the fuel pump prime ( ie can you hear it priming when ignition goes on) dodgy fuel or blocked injector - bit of a needle in a haystack jobbie at distance
