this post is about what Laverda ownership did for me today.....
so, my old Jag puked up its starter. Long story short, one prick of a job to replace, harder than swapping an entire bloody engine. The starter is simply not accesible. What should have been a half hour job max, five hours later I still didn't have the bloody starter removed, I was bleeding from various scrapes, and I had just resorted to welding a 13 mm wrench to a length of steel rod to try and get both access to, and leverage on, what I needed to unbolt.
I gave up, first time in decades I have given up on a mechanical project, had the car towed to the Jag dealer.
I turn up at the Jag dealer after the tow truck drops the car off, stand in line at the service counter behind some self important business man type demanding that he get his car repaired and back by end of the following day, listened to the service guy telling him repeatedly that the service department was way too busy and it would be a couple of days before they could get to his car... the guy blew a gasket and went stomping off trying to find a manager...
I walk up to the service guy, hand him my old Jag key, on a Laverda key tag. He does a double take, starts telling me all about the Jota he owned as a younger man back in the UK, etc.... I tell him I need the starter changed out, call me in a couple of days when it is done and the car is ready to be picked up. Then when he takes my information for the service order, he sees my name and asks me if I have anything to do with the Laverda Forum that he just loves to read, and we have a further good chat......A couple of hours later my phone rings, my car is ready, even the bill for the work done was really reasonable, way less than I was expecting. Laverda ownership rocks, as does participation in this forum!
